A wiki race takes you from one Wikipedia article to another using only article links. Choose a route, follow the connections, and reach the target in WikiWars.
Every player gets the same starting article and target. Choose your own pair when you create a game, or play the daily challenge.
Move through the blue links inside each article. Do not use Wikipedia search, your browser’s Back button, or a typed URL to skip to another article.
Your run finishes when you open the target article. WikiWars records your moves and time. The mode determines which score matters most.
Play together
Create a room, copy its invite link, and send it to your friends. Each player joins with a nickname.
Wait until everyone has joined before you select I’m ready. The countdown starts when all joined players are ready. The first player to reach the target wins.

Play a route on your own, then share the challenge link from your results. Your friends can try the same route when they are ready.
Completed runs are ranked by fewest moves, then fastest time. You do not need to be online together.
Create a challengeRunning a class or club event? Host a race to manage players and start the countdown yourself. In a hosted room, players select I’m ready, then wait for the host to start.
The host chooses the finish rule and time limit. Let everyone finish keeps the round open for the group after one player finishes. First finisher wins ends the round as soon as one player reaches the target. Reach the target before the timer runs out.
Think about what your target is connected to: a place, a person, a field of study, or a period in history. Read the article for links that point in that direction. A familiar article can help, but a tempting detour still costs a move.
After a run, compare your route with your friends. Use Shortest paths between games to explore how articles connect. Keep it closed during a competition.
Yes. A Wikipedia race, often called a wiki race or the Wiki Game, connects a start article to a target using article links. In WikiWars, Live races reward speed and Challenges reward fewer moves.
No. Enter a nickname to create or join a game. If you sign in, the game uses your account name.
Opening another article through an allowed link counts as a move. Scrolling, using Find, and jumping to a section within the same article do not.
The game uses English Wikipedia articles. External websites, other language editions, red links to missing pages, and non-article pages such as categories, files, and talk pages are not valid moves.
Yes, if your current article has an allowed link to it. Following that link is another move. The browser’s Back button is not a game move.
Yes. Host a race from a separate control screen. You can manage entry, set a time limit, start or end the round, save results, and prepare another round for the same group. The school competition guide covers practice rounds, scoring, and an event schedule.
